Terry Fox Run 2022

September 18, 2022

Highlights from today’s Terry Fox Run, held at Lakeside Park in Port Dalhousie:

1. Spotted in the crowd was a kid wearing a T-shirt with the slogan “I hear and I forget. I see and I remember.”

2. Notable faces in the crowd included Chris Bittle, Walter Sendzik, Mat Siscoe Matler Sendzcoe, Sal Sorrento, the ghost of Jim Bradley and Port Dalhousie councilors Carlos Garcia and Bruce Williamson.

3. Sal spent much time walking around before the start of the run and was hardly being mobbed by supporters. Perhaps his regular day job, if he has one, is as a Maytag repairman.

4. The Ice River water they were giving out tasted like it had been taken right out of the Red River, the sewage lagoon that flows through Winnipeg.

5. It was beyond shameful for the organizers to give Bittle a cancer survivor award. Honoring any politician is bad enough these days, but the poison injections his government has been illegally strongarming Canadians into taking will be sending cancer rates skyrocketing in the coming years. While we were there to help fight cancer, they were, in effect, honoring a cancer creator. The late Terry Fox must have been looking down with a disapproving eye.

6. The ghost of Jim Bradley practically had to be helped to the starting line to cheer on the participants. He ought to be putting his name on the list for a nursing home instead of running for re-election.

7. While none of the other politicians in attendance used the occasion to do any campaigning, Sal Sorrento had no such scruples. Note how he strategically parked the Salmobile with his sign in the back in full view of the runners leaving the starting line. Tacky, to say the least.

7a. I’m going to have serious trouble finding enough acceptable candidates to fill out my regional ballot. But I am more determined than ever that Sal will not be among them.

8. Video from the run, or in my case, bike ride:

9. The alert viewer will notice the SPRM plate I passed by. As I’ve said many times before, that place does keep following me around.
