On the Road – Nauseating Slogans, Illegitimate Tenants, Terrace Falls and More

December 4, 2021

Highlights and lowlights from a day on the road . . .

1. Spotted on the back of a juice carton left at the curb was the barf-worthy slogan “Let’s fight climate change.” You literally can’t turn around these days without getting political messages rammed down your throat.

2. Seems as though some factions are none too pleased about the closure of the Library Hilton, the topic of my previous post . . .

More noteworthy than the message, however, is who posted it. The Niagara Tenants Union. Whoever they are. As if the community residents bums who used to take up overnight residence at the Library Hilton were “tenants.” You have the right to visit the library. You don’t have the right to live there. And even if their “tenancy” had some degree of legitimacy, they certainly didn’t have the right to paint graffiti, defecate, litter and break windows there. The NTU doesn’t hesitate to gaslight those they consider bad landlords, yet they turn a blind eye to bad tenants.

3. Seated at the bench in front of the farmers market was a guy stopping passers-by to inform them that the door to the parking garage across the street wasn’t working. What did he expect us to do about it?

4. It’s important to keep those fire hydrants warm . . .

5. Scenes at Terrace Falls, located in Short Hills Provincial Park:

6. Don’t I give enough “donations” to the government?

7. While at the St. Johns Conservation Area, I listened with interest as my two companions on the day talked about their time living in Mexico City. Back in the Old Country, I used to think that going to Minneapolis made me a worldly traveler.

8. Leaving the park, I nearly threw up when I saw a guy with a big grin on his face practically making out with his dog, which was perched on the back of his SUV. Blecch. Get a room if you must do such things. Public displays of affection with dogs are not cool.

9. I don’t know how much money I would have to be paid to be seen at any events of these silly games. That is, assuming my government would even allow me to attend.

10. Sadly, the Beer Academy has far too many graduates . . .
