On the Road – Cup Kicking, Friendly Guardians, Demolition Cleaning and More

May 30, 2022

Highlights from today’s bus-bike trek to and from Stoney Creek:

1. Bright and early this morning, I loaded my bike onto a GO bus, where I disembarked at Stoney Creek and biked back to St. Catharines using a combination of the old Highway 8 and the Waterfront Trail. Upon checking my Presto card, however, I was only dinged the fare to Grimsby. Another customer appreciation day at GO.

2. Seeds of a future flat tire at the Centennial Parkway & QEW park and ride . . .

3. Before proceeding east on my journey, I spotted a white van from Great Lakes Christian High School pull into the lot. The driver promptly got out, ran toward a discarded Tim Hortons cup and gave it a good kick, sending the remaining contents flying.

4. In the median along Centennial Parkway was a community resident bum holding out a cap toward passing cars looking for donations. Despite standing outside, he was dutifully wearing a mask. People’s Commissar Ford would be so proud.

5. In case an NDP candidate comes knocking on your door, you can tell them to shove it up their butt . . .

5a. Could his campaign office be called the Butt-hole?

6. If you need a pharmacy friendly to your guardian . . .

7. Couldn’t they just call it Lake Drive? Why Lake Avenue Drive? Can you imagine how confusing it is for people living on that street when they have to quote their address? And how often does their mail get redirected to the same address on Lake Avenue, which is right across the street?

8. Sign outside an animal hospital: Does Lyme disease tick you off?

9. Demolition is one way to clean your house . . .

10. I wonder if they considered calling it the Innsville Inn?

11. Those who stand while eating or bring in outside food risk the wrath of the Niagara Gateway Information Center Police . . .

12. How about showing some love to those who aren’t allowed to show up because they put a premium on their own health?

13. Along the Waterfront Trail in Grimsby, I passed by a luxurious lakefront estate with an NDP sign on their lawn. No doubt another of the many champagne and caviar socialists who think you should be paying more taxes to support social programs. Not them.

14. One of the college students behind the counter at Wendy’s in Beamsville thinks one of her male colleagues likes her butt and has a special admiration for those who have no arms and no legs.

15. No one was wearing a mask at said Wendy’s and there were also no shields at the counter. The way it ought to be. By the way, the place was spotless.
