The Saturday Morning Comics

Remember the comics that came with the Saturday morning paper? I always looked forward to them as a child. Those were the days. But today, we have politicians providing humor for us. Such as Sal Sorrento, our local Doug Ford Party candidate whose Facebook page is a veritable potpourri of comedy. Consider the following:

  • This so-called “conservative” actively promotes the upcoming Canada Summer Games in Niagara. Which should be called the Niagara Politicians Games, as the politicians were the only ones gung-ho on bringing us that worthless enterprise. Volunteer applications now open, they say. Enough of my money has already been “volunteered,” thank you very much.

  • He promotes a posting from the Ministry of Health. Ontario continues to add hospital beds and build the health care workforce to ensure people can access the care they need, they say. This from the same government that has been sitting on the sidelines silently cheering local health authorities that ruthlessly fire those who disobey their illegal and morally repugnant orders to take poison injections. You can’t make stuff like this up.

  • He promotes another posting from the Ministry of Health stressing the importance of mental health. Again, from the same government that caused the biggest mental-health crisis of our generation by using the full power of the state to implement and brutally enforce illegal and unconstitutional lockdowns.

  • Politicians do too much talking and not enough listening, he says. I believe if you want to know how to help small business, ask them. Oh, that’s rich. This from the same guy who I practically had to scream at to get him to stop his lecture and listen to what I had to say when he called me.

  • This pandemic and related safety measures have been gruelling on all of us, he says. People’s businesses, finances and mental health have suffered these past two years. Not everyone has agreed on pandemic measures but I can only imagine how much worse it would have been had the Liberals or NDP been at the helm of this. It would have been an unmitigated disaster!

    So in other words . . .

My posse of bandits robbed a bank. They tied up several tellers and made off with half the contents of the vault. But you should feel eternally grateful because if the posse down the street had robbed the bank instead, they’d have taken three-quarters of what was in the vault and would have taken hostages too.

  • Doug Ford’s focus is on the commitment to create jobs and support business, he says. Ford will leave no stone unturned to find support for Ontario businesses to get our economy roaring back. So now he wants you to pat him on the back for offering “help” (ie. money he lifted from your own pocket) to those same small business owners whose livelihoods he destroyed.

  • You know best how to spend your own money, he says. All while bragging about how much of our money the province is “investing” (the repugnant euphemism politicians love to use for government handouts) locally. In other words, how much more money Ford is stealing from us to bribe us with our own money.

Who needs the Saturday morning comics when you’ve got Sal Sorrento and the Doug Ford Party?
