Toronto Freedom Protest

February 13, 2022

Yesterday, a friend and I attended a freedom protest at Queen’s Park in Toronto organized by The Line Canada, an organization that has been at the forefront of the freedom movement since the early days of the war.

Even before getting to Queen’s Park, the police presence was palpable. They had barricaded off much of University Avenue and I later learned it was much the same way on Yonge Street. And as we gathered on the grounds, there was the sound of a police chopper overhead. Their motto is “To Serve and Protect,” but it looked like they were more interested in serving and protecting the government than us.

Right across the street from Queen’s Park, I couldn’t help but be struck by this historical marker describing the formation of Ontario’s Human Rights Code and how it provides a legal mechanism to combat discrimination. Yet there we were protesting against discrimination from our own government.

Many came bearing signs . . .

“Boosterman” had the winning getup.

This guy came in a close second. He said a trucker in Ottawa had given him the sweatshirt.

An obvious reference to the comical claim from the Communist Broadcasting Corporation that Russia is behind the mushrooming freedom movement.

On the other side of this sign was the line “Chairman Trudeau Dictates” . . .

Not surprisingly, in light of his recently increased hostile actions, People’s Commissar Ford was also the target of many in the crowd, most of whom likely voted for him in the last election. And won’t be making the same mistake this time around.

I liked this one, but the guy needed to use his “brian” a little more before printing up the sign . . .

Most of those with a “brian” didn’t need a recent study from Johns Hopkins to confirm what we already knew . . .

I wonder about this. Even Jesus must have limits.

Showing support for the freedom convoy in Ottawa. Several additional busloads of supporters from across the GTA headed for the nation’s capital this weekend, which was probably the reason there weren’t more at Queen’s Park yesterday.

In addition to the still photos, I shot a lot of video at the event:

I was particularly pleased to hear more and more talk, not just of reclaiming our freedom, but of having the politicians and unelected public health officials who stole them from us held criminally accountable. There needs to be a message sent to future generations of politicians that this assault on our rights will never again be tolerated.

No, the character trait for February is not optimism . . .

It is defiance.
