City of Ottawa Eastbound view showing the sign designating the upcoming bridge over the Rideau River as the Cst. Robert Maki Memorial Bridge. When he was killed back in 1966, Cst. Maki originally had been responding to a complaint of a man walking on a road discarding his clothing. The man subsequently got a hold of Cst. Maki's revolver and fired five shots, killing the constable. The man was later found not guilty by reason of insanity.
