Grand Forks

U.S. Business 81 follows the former route of U.S. 81 through Grand Forks. After the construction of I-29, Business 81 followed Washington Street south to I-29 at Exit 130, but the route has since been changed to follow 32nd Avenue South back to I-29.
 
Northern Terminus: Junction of I-29 at North Washington Street.
 
Southern Terminus: Junction of I-29 at 32nd Avenue South.

Though there are no signs indicating that US Business 81 turns to follow 32nd Avenue South, there are signs indicating that I-29 is accessible to the right. Most of the development in Grand Forks in recent years has taken place along I-29 and a drive down Washington Street, the former US 81, is like taking a step back in time. Show location on map

City of Grand Forks		 Southbound view on Washington Street approaching 32th Avenue South, undoubtedly the busiest street in Grand Forks. It is often flooded with Manitobans who cross the border to shop at Columbia Mall and nearby big-box stores. It is not uncommon to see more license plates from Manitoba in the parking lots than from North Dakota. Show location on map
