The original route of this highway took Road 71N east to present-day PR 240 (Road 36W) and followed it south into Portage la Prairie, ending at Saskatchewan Avenue, which was PTH 1 at the time. After the current route was established, the original route was designated as PTH 4A until the late 1960s, when the provincial road system was established. Show location on map
