Though the present-day US 61 ends at this exit, I-35 roughly follows the route of the former section of US 61 that ran north to Duluth. US 61 then continued north from Duluth along the north shore of Lake Superior to the Canadian border on what has since been designated as MN 61. Photograph taken in April 2013.
