The Jets acquired winger Nelson Emerson from the St. Louis Blues prior to the start of the 1993-1994 season in the trade that saw Phil Housley go to St. Louis. He spent the next two seasons with the Jets before being traded to the Hartford Whalers prior to the start of the 1995-1996 season. He went on to play seven more seasons in the NHL and retired after the 2001-2002 season as a member of the Los Angeles Kings. Following his playing career, he worked for three years as an assistant coach with the Kings.
