The Jets chose winger Pat Elynuik with the eighth overall selection in the 1986 Entry Draft and he made his Jets debut in 1987-1988. On the heels of three years in junior hockey with the Prince Albert Raiders where he scored 127 goals and recorded 262 points, he established himself as a regular with the Jets in 1988-1989 scored 25 goals or more in each of his four full seasons as a Jet. The Jets traded him to the Washington Capitals prior to the start of the 1992-1993 season and he went on to play four more years in the NHL with the Capitals, Tampa Bay Lightning, Ottawa Senators, and Dallas Stars before finishing his playing career in 1996-1997 in the minor leagues.
