The Jets acquired Mike Eagles from the Chicago Blackhawks midway through the 1990-1991 season and he remained with the Jets until he was traded to the Washington Capitals late in the 1995 season. He spent the next five seasons with the Capitals before retiring. He broke into the NHL with the Quebec Nordiques late in the 1982-1983 season and spent the next five seasons in the Nordiques' organization until he was traded to the Blackhawks. He listed his childhood idol as Bobby Orr.
