The Jets acquired winger Normand Dupont from the Montreal Canadiens prior to the 1980-1981 season. Originally a first-round selection of the Canadiens in 1977, Dupont established himself as an NHL regular for the first time in his career during his three seasons with the Jets. The Jets traded him to the Hartford Whalers during the summer of 1983 and after one season in the Whalers' organization, he moved on and spent the next seven seasons in Switzerland.
