Winnipeg's 1st choice, 2nd overall, in 1980 Entry Draft. Traded to Hartford Whalers for Ray Neufeld, November 21, 1985.
The Jets used the second-overall pick in the 1980 Entry Draft to select defenseman Dave Babych from the Portland Winter Hawks. Though he never lived up to his lofty advance billing, he developed into a solid contributor over the course of more than five seasons as a Jet before being dealt to the Hartford Whalers in a controversial trade for Ray Neufeld. He went on to have a long career, mostly with the Whalers and the Vancouver Canucks.
