Claimed on waivers from Buffalo Sabres, January 12, 1981.
The Jets claimed winger Rick Dudley on waivers from the Buffalo Sabres midway through the 1980-1981 season and he finished the year with the Jets, appearing in 30 games. He wound up his playing career the following season with a brief stint in the minor leagues. Dudley enjoyed the best years of his career during four seasons with the WHA's Cincinnati Stingers, during which he topped the 40-goal plateau twice and added a 30-goal season. The Stingers sold his rights back to the Sabres, his original team, late in the 1978-1979 season prior to a game against the Jets in Winnipeg.
