The Jets selected Kris Draper in the third round of the 1989 Entry Draft and he made brief cameo appearances over the span of three seasons before being sold to the Detroit Red Wings. In Detroit, Draper developed into a valuable role player and was an integral part of four Stanley Cup championship teams. He was the winner of the Selke Trophy in 2003-2004 as the NHL's best defensive forward.
