The Jets acquired Wayne Dillon from the New York Rangers in the summer of 1979. He spent only 13 games with the Jets in which he failed to record a single point. Dillon initially broke into pro hockey with the Toronto Toros of the WHA, where he spent two seasons before joining the Rangers and later, the Birmingham Bulls.
