During the following off-season, the Jets traded him to the Montreal Canadiens over a contract dispute, and he went on to play eight more seasons in the NHL, finishing his long career in his second tour of duty with the Jets late in the 1991-1992 season. DeBlois entered the NHL as a first-round draft choice of the New York Rangers and future Jets' General Manager John Ferguson.
