The Jets acquired the rights to Bob Ash from the Minnesota Fighting Saints in exchange for the rights to Ted Hampson. The diminutive Ash signed with the Jets and was a solid contributor on the blue line for two seasons before being claimed by the expansion Indianapolis Racers in the summer of 1974. He was once the proprietor of a service station in the outskirts of his hometown of Brandon, and it was one of the three busiest pumps in Manitoba at the time.
