The Jets selected Dave Christian in the second round of the 1979 Entry Draft and he joined the Jets following the “Miracle On Ice” gold-medal winning team at the 1980 Olympics. He remained with the Jets through the 1982-1983 season, eventually rising to team captain, but was traded in the summer of 1983 due to a contract dispute. He went on to have a long NHL career and retired following the 1995-1996 season as a member of the IHL's Minnesota Moose.
