Winnipeg's 2nd choice, 40th overall, in 1979 Entry Draft. Traded to Washington Capitals for Washington's 1st round choice (Bobby Dollas) in 1983 Entry Draft, June 8, 1983.
The Jets selected Dave Christian in the second round of the 1979 Entry Draft and he joined the Jets following the “Miracle On Ice” gold-medal winning team at the 1980 Olympics. He remained with the Jets through the 1982-1983 season, eventually rising to team captain, but was traded in the summer of 1983 due to a contract dispute. He went on to have a long NHL career and retired following the 1995-1996 season as a member of the IHL's Minnesota Moose.
