Traded to Jets with New Jersey's 7th round choice in 1989 Entry Draft by New Jersey Devils for Steve Rooney and Winnipeg's 3rd round choice in 1990 Entry Draft, July 19, 1988. Traded to Chicago Blackhawks for Chicago's 4th round choice in 1989 Entry Draft, January 19, 1989.
The Jets acquired goaltender Alain Chevrier from the Devils in the summer of 1988 following three admirable seasons in New Jersey, where he was a workhorse on poor teams. Midway through the 1988-1989 season, he became the odd man out in a goaltending logjam and he was traded to the Chicago Blackhawks, where he finished that season. After brief stops with the Pittsburgh Penguins and Detroit Red Wings, he retired following the 1990-1991 season.
