#29 - Tim (Chevy) Cheveldae

Timothy Michael Cheveldae
Goaltender
Born February 15, 1968 in Melville, Saskatchewan
Height: 5' 10" Weight: 195
Traded to Jets with Dallas Drake by Detroit Red Wings for Bob Essensa and Sergei Bautin, March 8, 1994. Traded with Winnipeg's 3rd round choice in 1996 Entry Draft to Philadelphia Flyers for Dominic Roussel, February 27, 1996.
The Jets acquired goaltender Tim Cheveldae from the Detroit Red Wings late in the 1993-1994 season and after finishing that year as the starter, he split time with rookie Nikolai Khabibulin in 1995. He was used mostly in a backup role the following season, but he performed admirably well when forced into the starter's role as a result of an injury to Khabibulin. He was traded to the Philadelphia Flyers late in the 1995-1996 season and he saw his last NHL action the following year as a member of the Boston Bruins. His playing career ended after the 1997-1998 season and he went on to coach at the junior level.
