Brent Ashton was initially a Jet on paper in 1982 when the Jets acquired his rights from the Vancouver Canucks as compensation for Ivan Hlinka. The same day, his rights were traded to the Colorado Rockies, but the Jets acquired him for real in the summer of 1988. He spent three full seasons with the Jets before the Jets dealt him to the Boston Bruins early in the 1991-1992 season. He remained in the Bruins' organization for two seasons before moving on to the Calgary Flames and finishing his lengthy pro career in the IHL in 1993-1994.
