The Jets signed Roland Eriksson in January 1979 after he was waived by the Vancouver Canucks. He spent the rest of the 1978-1979 season with the Jets and provided some valuable depth during the stretch run and into the playoffs. Two seasons earlier, Eriksson elected to sign with the Minnesota North Stars instead of the Jets. Following the 1978-1979 season, he returned to Europe and played for more than a decade before bringing his playing career to a close.
