Joe Zanussi signed with the Jets in July 1972 and over the course of the next two seasons, he earned the nicknames of “Crazy Legs” and “Tasmanian Devil” for his wild rushes up the ice. He was a regular on the 1972-1973 team that advanced to the AVCO Cup final and was named the Jets' most exciting player in 1973-1974. After the 1973-1974 season, he was released and he returned to the NHL, where he played for the New York Rangers and Boston Bruins.
