The Jets acquired winger Paul Ysebaert from the Detroit Red Wings during the summer of 1993 and after one disappointing season as a Jet, he was traded to the Chicago Blackhawks. He went on to spend parts of five seasons with the Tampa Bay Lightning before playing one season in Switzerland. He retired following the 1999-2000 season. He was originally drafted by the New Jersey Devils in 1984 and after parts of four seasons in the Devils' organization, he was traded to Detroit, where he remained until being dealt to the Jets.
