Veteran Wally Boyer put off retirement to sign with the Jets in the summer of 1972. The diminutive speedster played a supporting role in helping the Jets to the AVCO Cup final in 1973 and added four goals in their playoff run. He retired from hockey following the 1972-1973 season.
