The Jets acquired rugged defenseman Neil Wilkinson from the Chicago Blackhawks in the summer of 1994 and he remained with the Jets until being dealt to the Pittsburgh Penguins in December 1995. He spent the next three and a half seasons with the Penguins and wound up his playing career after two seasons in the minor leagues. The Selkirk, Manitoba native was originally drafted by the Minnesota North Stars in the second round of the 1986 Entry Draft and he spent time with the North Stars and San Jose Sharks before being dealt to the Blackhawks.
