Rights acquired from Houston Aeros for cash, July 6, 1978.
The Jets purchased the contract of Steve West among many other former members of the defunct Houston Aeros in the summer of 1978. He spent most of the 1978-1979 season in the minor leagues, but he did play in six of the Jets' ten playoff games and his name was erroneously omitted from the group who had their names engraved on the AVCO Cup. After the 1978-1979 season, he played for two seasons in the minor leagues before bringing his playing career to an end.
