The Jets acquired centerman Darren Turcotte before the start of the 1995-1996 season and he chipped in with 16 goals before being traded to the San Jose Sharks near the trading deadline late in the year. In his first game in Winnipeg after the trade, he scored once and added two assists as the lowly Sharks defeated the Jets by a score of 7-1.
