The Jets claimed Winnipeg native Lorne Stamler from the Toronto Maple Leafs in the Expansion Draft and he spent most of the 1979-1980 season with the Jets, scoring eight goals in 62 goals. Following his one and only year in a Jets uniform, he moved on and played four more seasons in the minor leagues before bringing his playing career to a close.
