The Jets signed defenseman Don Spring after following his three seasons at the University of Alberta and one more with the Canadian National Team. The stay-at-home defender spent most of the next four seasons with the Jets before winding up his playing career in Germany. He was born in Venezuela where his father was working for a major oil company.
