The Jets signed enforcer Dwight Schofield in the summer of 1987 and he spent 18 games with the Jets in his final season in pro hockey. He was originally drafted by the Detroit Red Wings in 1976 and played several seasons in the Red Wings' organization before stops in Montreal, St. Louis, and Washington. He once put together back-to-back 300+ penalty minute seasons in the minor leagues and he accumulated 8 goals and 631 penalty minutes in 211 NHL games.
