Christian Bordeleau signed with the Jets in August 1972 and centered the Jets' top line with Bobby Hull and Norm Beaudin that led the Jets to the AVCO Cup finals in 1972-1973. After a disappointing 1973-1974 season, at odds with coach Rudy Pilous, Bordeleau asked for a trade and he was subsequently dealt to the Quebec Nordiques, where he remained until he retired from hockey in November 1978. Prior to the trade, Bobby Hull was quoted as saying, “I don't think Chris wants to play here anymore. It's too bad because he can be one great little player when he wants to be.” Bordeleau played in the WHA's first All-Star Game and his 47 goals in 1972-1973 was second on the team only to Bobby Hull.
