The Jets claimed winger Bill Riley from the Washington Capitals in the Expansion Draft. He spent 14 games with the Jets in 1979-1980 and moved on the following season to finish his playing career in the minor leagues. Prior to joining the Jets, he played five seasons in the Capitals' organization and played for future Jets' coach Tom McVie while in Washington.
