The Jets selected defenseman Teppo Numminen in the second round of the 1986 Entry Draft and he made his Jets debut in 1988-1989. He remained with the Jets through their final season in 1995-1996 and played for the relocated franchise in Arizona prior to ending his long and distinguished playing career with stops in Dallas and Buffalo. He was a steady force on the Jets' blue line and he played in a total of 1,372 NHL regular season games. His final NHL season came in 2008-2009, one year removed from open heart surgery.
