The Jets acquired gritty winger Jim Nill from the Boston Bruins in exchange for Morris Lukowich in February 1985. He remained with the Jets until being dealt to the Detroit Red Wings in January 1988 and he ended his playing career in the Red Wings' organization following the 1990-1991 season. He was originally drafted by the St. Louis Blues in 1978 and also played for the Vancouver Canucks before moving on to the Bruins. After his playing career, Nill moved into the front office and became a respected executive with the Red Wings, rising to the position of Vice President and Assistant General Manager.
