Traded to Jets by Cleveland Crusaders for Randy Legge and future considerations, December 30, 1975. Rights retained by Winnipeg prior to Expansion Draft, June 9, 1979.
The Jets acquired winger Lyle Moffat from the Cleveland Crusaders in December 1975 and he was a regular for the Jets during the rest of their time in the WHA. The former baseball prospect who once tried out with the Montreal Expos was noted for his work ethic and for being a good skater and he played an important role in each of the three Jets' AVCO Cup championship teams. He remained in the Jets' organization for two seasons following their entry into the NHL and last saw action with the Jets in 1979-1980. He retired following the 1980-1981 season and went on to work in the Jets' front office as their Director of Community & Media Relations.
