Winnipeg's 12th choice, 249th overall, in 1985 Entry Draft.
The Jets selected Anssi Melametsa late in the 1985 Entry Draft and he spent the entire 1985-1986 season in the Jets' organization, splitting the year between the Jets and their farm team in Sherbrooke. The following year, he returned to his native Finland and played eight more seasons in Europe before ending his playing career. Prior to signing with the Jets, he had starred in Finland for five seasons and had one season of junior hockey in Canada with the Peterborough Petes.
