Claimed from New York Islanders in Waiver Draft, October 2, 1995.
The Jets acquired enforcer Jim McKenzie in the Waiver Draft prior to the start of the 1995-1996 season and he spent the entire season with the Jets that year. The popular McKenzie moved with the team to Arizona and went on to play for four more NHL teams before retiring following the 2003-2004 season. He broke into the NHL with the Hartford Whalers and also spent time with the Dallas Stars and Pittsburgh Penguins before joining the Jets.
