Loaned to Jets by Toronto Toros under emergency conditions, April, 1974. |
With regular goaltenders Ernie Wakely and Joe Daley suffering from pneumonia during the 1974 playoffs, the Toronto Toros consented to loan third-string goaltender Frank Blum to the Jets under emergency conditions. Under the impression he was coming to be a backup, Blum flew to Houston to meet the Jets prior to Game 3 of their series against the Aeros and was surprised when he was told he was starting that evening. He was blitzed in a blowout loss in Game 3, but he held the Jets in Game 4 as they tried in vain to stave off being swept out of the playoffs. With the Jets' quick exit from post season play, Blum's tenure with the Jets lasted only two games. |
