The Jets acquired defenseman Wayne McBean late in the 1993-1994 season and he spent the rest of that year with the Jets. He was claimed by the Pittsburgh Penguins in the Waiver Draft prior to the start of the 1995 season, but he never saw action with the Penguins on account of a wrist injury that ultimately brought his playing career to a close. He was originally selected by the Los Angeles Kings with the fourth-overall pick in the 1987 Entry Draft and spent most of his time with the Kings, and later, with the New York Islanders, split between the NHL and the minor leagues.
