Winnipeg's 1st choice, 8th overall, in 1983 Entry Draft. Traded with Jim Kyte and Randy Gilhen to Pittsburgh Penguins for Randy Cunneyworth, Rick Tabaracci and Dave McLlwain, June 17, 1989.
The Jets used the eighth-overall pick in the 1983 Entry Draft to select big winger Andrew McBain. He spent six seasons with the Jets and struggled early in his career and was largely regarded as a bust until his 32-goal season in 1987-1988. After a 37-goal season the following year, he was part of a blockbuster trade with the Pittsburgh Penguins and proceeded to bounce around with several teams. McBain last saw action in 1995-1996 as a member of the IHL's Fort Wayne Komets. He was blessed with plenty of size and strength, but was not able to parlay his skills into a more successful career.
