Traded to Jets with Paul MacLean and Ed Staniowski by St. Louis Blues for Scott Campbell and John Markell, July 3, 1981. Claimed on waivers by Pittsburgh Penguins, October 13, 1983.
The Jets acquired veteran defenseman Bryan Maxwell in the summer of 1981 and he spent two full seasons with the Jets prior to being waived in October 1983. He was claimed by the Pittsburgh Penguins and spent the next two seasons with them before retiring. Maxwell was originally the fourth overall selection in the 1975 Amateur Draft by the Minnesota North Stars, but he elected to sign with the WHA's Cleveland Crusaders following a stellar junior career with the Medicine Hat Tigers. He played for three different WHA teams before joining the North Stars late in the 1977-1978 season. After his playing career, he turned to coaching and worked mostly in junior hockey and in the minor leagues.
