Winnipeg's 2nd choice, 23rd overall, in 1980 Entry Draft. Traded to Pittsburgh Penguins to complete transaction that sent Randy Carlyle to Winnipeg, May 1, 1984. Claimed from Philadelphia Flyers in Waiver Draft, October 2, 1989. Traded to Philadelphia Flyers for future considerations, February 27, 1992.
The Jets selected defenseman Moe Mantha in the second round of the 1980 Entry Draft and he spent four seasons in the Jets' organization before being dealt to the Pittsburgh Penguins as part of the Randy Carlyle trade. He spent parts of four seasons with the Penguins before moving on to the Edmonton Oilers and Philadelphia Flyers. The Jets re-acquired him prior to the start of the 1989-1990 season and he spent two full seasons with the Jets until being traded back to the Flyers in February 1992. He retired after a one-game stint with the Hershey Bears in 1992-1993. Following his playing career, he turned to coaching in the minor leagues and at the junior level. His father played with former Jets' General Manager John Ferguson, and Ferguson's wife accompanied Mantha's parents to the hospital when he was born.
