The Jets signed defenseman Stewart Malgunas in the summer of 1995 and he spent 29 games with the Jets before being traded to the Washington Capitals in mid-February. He spent three more seasons in the Capitals' organization and saw his last NHL action in 1999-2000. He wound up his playing career with two seasons in Germany. Malgunas was originally drafted by the Detroit Red Wings in 1990 and after three seasons in the Red Wings' organization, he made his NHL debut with the Philadelphia Flyers in 1993-1994. After his playing career, he coached at the junior level in his hometown of Prince George, British Columbia.
