Traded to Jets by Pittsburgh Penguins for Neil Wilkinson, December 28, 1995.
The Jets acquired slick defenseman Norm Maciver from the Pittsburgh Penguins in December 1995. He provided an offensive boost from the blue line and was a key contributor in helping the Jets to their first playoff berth in three seasons. He had the honor of scoring the last Jets' goal when he beat Mike Vernon in Game 6 of the Jets' first-round series against the Detroit Red Wings. He moved with the team to Arizona and played there for two seasons before ending his playing career in the minor leagues following the 1998-1999 season. Maciver originally broke into the NHL as a free agent with the New York Rangers in 1986-1987 following four seasons at the University of Minnesota-Duluth. He moved on to play for the Hartford Whalers, Edmonton Oilers, Ottawa Senators, and Pittsburgh Penguins before being traded to the Jets.
