The Jets acquired hard-working winger Paul MacDermid from the Hartford Whalers in December 1989. He spent parts of three seasons with the Jets until being dealt to the Washington Capitals in March 1992. He moved on to the Quebec Nordiques and retired following the 1995 season as a result of a back injury. He was originally a third-round selection of the Whalers in the 1981 Entry Draft and he made his NHL debut in 1981-1982.
