Signed as a free agent, July, 1975. Traded to Edmonton Oilers for Laurie Boschman, March 8, 1983.
After spurning the Jets' offers during the summer of 1974, winger Willy Lindstrom finally signed with the Jets during the summer of 1975. The former truck driver and mechanic in the Swedish Army spent almost eight full seasons with the Jets and was an important part of all three AVCO Cup championship teams. He scored a career-high 44 goals in 1976-1977 and was one of the most popular players in Jets' history. The Jets dealt him to the Edmonton Oilers in March 1983 and he spent the next two seasons with the Oilers before moving on for two seasons with the Pittsburgh Penguins. He wound up his playing career with three seasons in his native Sweden. Prior to joining the Jets, he spent five seasons with Vastra Frolunda and was a teammate of former Jet Mats Lindh.
