The Jets acquired winger Alan Kerr from the Detroit Red Wings in the summer of 1992 and he spent one season in the Jets' organization, playing in seven games for the Jets. He was originally a fourth-round draft choice of the New York Islanders in 1982 and he made his NHL debut in 1984-1985. After seven seasons with the Islanders, he moved on to the Red Wings before joining the Jets. His playing career came to a close following the 1992-1993 season.
